Schmizo AG is an owner-managed SME that has been in existence for more than 60 years. During this time, the company has built up a core competence in the development and manufacture of customized glass equipment and glass apparatus. As a technical glassblowing company, the strength of the company lies in an above-average quality standard, as well as in direct and competent contact with customers in research, pharmaceuticals and industry. The broadly based team of employees consists of twelve people and has recently started to train its own apprentices. In addition to its expertise in the classic craft of technical glassblowing, Schmizo also has extensive machinery for precision mechanical processing of borosilicate and quartz glass.
Trabold AG & Co. operates mainly in the Bern area and is similar to Schmizo in terms of the products and services it offers.
With the merger of the two companies, the existing partnership cooperation could be secured for the future. For the time being, production will continue at the Bern site. A gradual relocation of all activities to the SCHMIZO production facilities in Oftringen will then take place by mid-2017. This merger ensures that the experience and expertise of Trabold will not be lost, because in addition to the machines and equipment, the core of the staff of TRABOLD & Co. will also be taken over. Mr. Trabold will actively accompany the transition process and then retire from active business life as of around mid-2017.
